Here's a little info gathered on the syndicates featured below.  All information posted on this page has either been taken straight from the site, or straight from the editor of that particular syndicate. Please note that many of the syndicates listed below offer helpful hints on their website, which will be added here shortly. This page was last updated on Nov. 9, 2000.

Syndicate: Creators Syndicate, Inc.
Background: Established 1987. Serves 2,400 newspapers, weekly and monthly magazines worldwide.

Send: Query letter and 4 weeks of samples, character sheet
Reports Back: Min. 10 weeks
Notes: Submit on Standard size paper (8 1/2 by 11) and place 6 dailies on each page in the proper order. No more than 6 weeks and 2 sundays ("NO ORIGINALS").  Page size is not firm. Samples are not filed and returned by SASE only.

Syndicate: King Features Syndicate
Background: Established 1915. serves 3,000 newspapers.

Send: Cover letter, 24 samples (proportionate to 4" x 13"), character sheets. resume optional, but appreciated.
Reports Back: Within 8 weeks
Contracts: Pays 50% of net proceeds.  Rights purchased vary upon projects. Artist owns original art and characters. length of contract and terms negotiated.
Notes: Art should be in black and white for easy reproduction. Reduce comics to fit on a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. Good writing helps bad art better than good art helps bad writing.

Syndicate: Los Angeles Times Syndicate

Accepts: Considers only comics that run 6 or 7 days a week.
Send: 24 dailies. Sundays optional. If you submit Sundays, send at least 4.
Reports Back: Within 2 months
Notes: Don't imitate cartoons in the paper. Rarely matches artists with writers. Include SASE.

Syndicate: United Feature Syndicate/Newspaper Enterprise Association
Background: Established 1978

Send: Cover letter, resume, 36 dailies no larger than 8 1/2 x 14 (Sundays not needed for first submissions.)

Contracts: Pays 50% of net proceeds. Buys all rights. Min. contract of 5 years and 5 year renewal. Automatic renewal.
Notes: Never send originals. No Faxes. Include SASE

Syndicate: Universal Press Syndicate
Background: Serves 2,750 daily and weekly newspapers.
